Our nominated build, Project Napier, earned the prestigious accolade for Best Custom Home in the $600,000 – $800,000 category.
The design of Project Napier is a seamless blend of form and function. The exterior features a combination of natural materials and innovative design elements, creating a striking visual appeal. Inside, the home boasts spacious living areas, state-of-the-art amenities, and meticulous attention to detail. Each room is thoughtfully designed to maximise comfort and efficiency, reflecting our vision of crafting sustainable homes for this generation and the next.
The Master Builders Victoria Awards
The Master Builders Victoria (MBV) Excellence in Housing Awards are a highly regarded event in the construction industry, celebrating the finest achievements in residential building across the state. The awards recognise builders who demonstrate exceptional standards of construction, design and sustainability. The competition is fierce, with entries evaluated by a panel of industry experts who assess each project based on various criteria, including innovation, client relationship, quality of workmanship and use of materials. 1
Project Napier: Country Living, Modern Comforts
Inverleigh is a small country town of two rivers; the Barwon and the Leigh. Inspiration was taken from this to design the glass filled gallery of the home that visually connect the front and rear courtyards, with a bluestone pathway creating a symbolic river surrounded by native plants, flowing purposefully towards the towering 100 year old Peppercorn tree located at the rear of the home.
Exploring the details, Project Napier is a 351m2 elegant, contemporary home set on a large 1439m2 rural lifestyle block in Inverleigh. The unique ‘H’ shaped floor plan divides the main living spaces located on the left, from the 4 bedroom/2.5 bathroom right wing. A stunning gallery entryway featuring full length windows throughout, ties the home together and floods the living spaces with natural light.
Material features include:
- Facade cladded in vertical Silvertop Ash timber
- Feature VJ lined raked ceiling throughout the Gallery, Living, Dining and Kitchen
- Feature VJ lined walls in Master Bedroom and Wood Fire Heater in Living
- Floor to ceiling tiles in Bathroom, Ensuite and Powder Room, completed with timber grained vanities and stone bench tops
- Oak Ryde Rustic Grade timber floors with matte lacquer throughout all living spaces and hallways. These create warmth in the home whilst keeping in line with a country aesthetic
- Square set cornices, architraves and skirting contribute towards contemporary elements in the home used to keep in line with the classic contemporary style.
- White interiors including walls, ceiling, joinery and kitchen elements create a clean, open, spacious feel throughout the home
Sustainability at the Core
A significant factor in Project Napier’s success is its emphasis on sustainable building practices. NSL Builders has integrated several sustainable features into the home, including energy-efficient systems, sustainable materials and innovative water management solutions. These elements not only reduce the environmental impact but also enhance the overall comfort & living experience for our clients.
Sustainable features include:
- Orientation and layout of the home to position:
- Main living spaces with North/East side windows to let in morning sun and whilst keeping cool in afternoon
- Garage and West side of home with minimal windows to reduce heat from afternoon sun
- WRB wrap with cavity batten behind external cladding
- R5.0 bulk insulation in ceiling and R2.5 insulation in walls (including internal walls to assist with climate control and acoustics)
- Trend U Value 6.7 fully double glazed windows and doors
- Rain water tank connected into toilet system
- Grey water septic system connected into lawn & garden irrigation
- All lighting in home designed at a minimum of 5W/m2
- All artificial lighting around perimeter of home controlled by daylight sensors
